ARTIST'S STATEMENT
April 28, 2005
My motivation to make art comes primarily from the satisfaction derived from the creative process. Most of my work has been created using traditional methods. These methods have included, lithography, etching, drawing and oil painting. I have become more process oriented in my approach to art and rely more on improvisation and automatism.
My recent work is non-representational and most of these images are not preconceived. Composition and the use of color are important features in this work. This recent work has strong dynamic or static features. By using fluid mediums, I am able to create images with strong, dynamic content but I also create images that are more linear, geometric and static. Most of the time, I seek to create images that I hope will be perceived as beautiful, interesting or unique.
